To be
read in conjunction with the North Berks Competitions Rule Book
provided to all
referees registered with the North Berks Football League.
We accept that most Referees
acquaint themselves with the Rules of Competitions in which they officiate but
rules change and newly registered Referees often appreciate guidance, so please
check the rules contained in this handbook and those issued for other
competitions as they are notified to you. For clarification on any issues,
please contact the Hon. Referees Secretary who will be happy to assist.
Some pointers to help the
season run smoothly:-
·
Please advise
Referees Secretary as soon as possible of 'open' dates available for North Berks
or non-availability through refereeing or other commitments, even after being
appointed.
·
Please
acknowledge appointments as soon as possible.
·
If forced to 'cry
off' at short notice, please try to notify the home Club to give them a chance
of finding a deputy.
o
Remember; if you
are not at a ground 15 minutes before kick-off time Clubs MUST agree to a
substitute Referee.
o
Remember; Clubs
must have their ground and accommodation open for inspection 30 minutes before
kick-off so you can ask for any faults in nets, lines etc. to be rectified if
possible before kick-off time and so avoid a late kick-off and possible
abandonment as a result.
§
Note Rule 10 (B)
proviso for 80 minutes to be played under certain conditions.
§
Proviso for
extra-time (20 or 30 minutes at your discretion before it begins) in ALL ROUNDS
of ALL North Berks Competitions - conditions always permitting. Extra-time is
also to be played in the second leg of two match ties if the aggregate scores
are level.
·
Note that up to
25p per mile for travelling expenses is payable for inspecting at a Club's or
Council's request to check for play. A fee of £12 (£9 Assistant Referees)
(inclusive of travelling expenses) is payable for attendance at an appointment
when fixtures cannot be played because of prevailing conditions.
·
Contravention of
rules to be reported to Hon. Referees Secretary on cards provided.
Club
linesman of the year (club assistant referee)
An award is made annually to
the Club Linesman who obtains the highest average mark in North Berks league
matches. The officiating Referee shall assess their performance and pass it to
the Hon Referees Secretary, who will collate the marks to determine the eventual
winner. All Referees in all games should submit marks on their Match Report
Cards.
The North Berks Football
League Council fully supports the worthwhile scheme that encourages regular
participation of Club Linesmen and undoubtedly increases the competency of
individuals for the benefit of North Berks football in general.
